Artist Spotlight: Lou McAfee

Lou McAfee graduated from The Ohio State University in 1997 with a BFA in Painting and Drawing. Between 1995 and 1999, the artist exhibited his work in Columbus at Roy G. Biv, Shot Tower Gallery at Fort Hayes, Ohio Art League, Waldo's on High and The Ohio State University, where his work is part of their permanent collection. 

In 1997, Mr. McAfee moved to New York and received an MFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design in 1999. He has exhibited at Artists Space, A.I.R., GAle GAtes et al. and Brenda Taylor Gallery. 



Mr. McAfee moved back to Columbus in 2004 and co-founded Studio 49 Atmosphere Design, a collective of artisans and craftspeople, with his wife, artist Cyndi Bellerose-McAfee. In 2005, Studio 49 completed work on Cargo: the Middle Passage, a permanent installation showcasing the painting Cargo by Columbus artist Ron Anderson, for The King Arts Complex. Two years later, Studio 49 completed work on the permanent exhibition Goree Island: The Door of No Return, featuring paintings by artist Jon Lockhard, also at The King Arts Complex. 

Since returning to Columbus, the artist has also exhibited work at Sean Christopher Gallery, 83 Gallery, participated in the MAP Furniture Bank Auction, Agora VI and outAuction for GLAAD in New York.
